Project Overview:
Location: La Guajira, Colombia
Technical Solution: Water Truck
# of Schools Receiving Clean Water: 2
# of Communities Receiving Clean Water: 4
Impact:

    • 2,100 people have clean water on a daily basis.

Aguayuda is looking for sponsors who would like to support Aguayuda by providing water to a school or community via water trucks.

Aguayuda has found several indigenous communities and schools just outside of Riohacha that struggle with the lack of clean water on a daily basis. These communities and schools are not connected to the water distribution system and therefore rely solely on water trucks that fill up their water storage tanks. Due to insufficient funds, they are not able to order a water truck to provide water for their community members and students. Most of the communities have no other choice than to use contaminated pond water for their daily needs. Many people, especially the children, get sick and have severe skin rashes.

Solution:
Each community or school needs two water truck deliveries per month.

The cost for one water truck delivery is $30, i.e. $60 per month.

Communities and Schools Looking For Sponsors:

Puerto Caracól - Community
Puerto Caracól is an indigenous community of 500 people. This fishing community is located close to the ocean, but their only available water source is a contaminated pond.

La Piedra - Community
La Piedra is an indigenous community of 100 people. The only water source is a contaminated pond and the large water storage tank in the community rarely contains clean water.

Sponsored Communities and Schools

Arenalito - School
